The Willow Canyon High School Band began its musical journey in the fall of 2003 when the school opened. During the first year, many traditions were established and achievements were made.

Some of the noteworthy performances from the first year include a performance at halftime of an Arizona State University football game during the 2003 Band Extravaganza, a drum line performance live with Shania Twain, and the national debut of “Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture Edition” on CNN.

Since that exciting first year, the band has helped build school spirit and community through music and community events. The Wildcats perform at school sporting events, Phoenix Suns games, Arizona Rattlers games, the Special Olympics, conventions at the Wigwam Resort, parades, and various concert venues. In addition, these students have presented a variety of shows and repertoire at ABODA and AMEA festivals throughout the years including two consecutive years of qualifying for the State Marching and Concert Festivals.

The band has earned many awards, captions, and ratings as high as Superior with Distinction. The most recent adventure the Wildcats have participated in was a trip to the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on July 4, 2007. The students earned this invitation based on their preparation and performance since 2003. The Wildcat Band and Color Guard is under the direction of Julie Trent.

These students have very high expectations and always work as a team under the motto, “We are the Base, We Set the Pace.” Come join the tradition of excellence with the Willow Canyon High School Wildcat Bands.
